After IITs, NITs are the premier institute for engineering in India. Because of COVID-19 pandemic the panel decided to relax its admission norms for this year.
Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) today relaxed up admission norms for admissions into National Institute of Technology (NITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).
NITs will take UG students on their performance in Joint Entrance Exam-Mains (JEE-Mains) and will limit the class 12 board assessment marks in the selection procedure, the HR development ministry tweeted today.
If a student secured a spot JEE main they can only need a class 12th passing certificate to apply for the admission in NIT.
Because of this pandemic the board examination was disrupted.
On July 3, the union HRD ministry had postponed the JEE exam and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) to September, because of the COVID-19.
The JEE (Main) exam will currently be held between September 1 to 6 and JEE (Advanced) will be held on September 27.
